12 Songs You Really Shouldn’t Play in Your Retail Store

It’s been said that music shapes consumer behavior. The right songs can increase your store’s sales…but #cringeworthy music can drive customers away. Here are 12 songs we really don’t recommend you play in your retail store.

1. “Lost in the Supermarket” – The Clash

“I’m all lost in the supermarket, I can no longer shop happily?” No.

2. “Sunglasses at Night” – Corey Hart

Cringe factor: 10. Especially at a drug retail store.

3. “All By Myself” – Celine Dion

Unless you want to make your customers cry, then no.

4. “Stupid Hoe” – Nicki Minaj

Not sure what’s worse: The breath before “you a stupid hoe” or repeating “you a stupid hoe” 16 times after that.

5. “Let’s Go To The Mall” – Robin Sparkles

Not unless your customers have been blessed with #HIMYM.

6. “LOL Smiley Face” – Trey Songz

Your customers WILL question your taste.

7. “Night of the Chainsaw” – Insane Clown Posse

Maybe for a Halloween costume retail store. Maybe.

8. “Shoplifters of the World Unite” – The Smiths

Your customers don’t need encouragement. Separately, nice hip motions at 1:46.

9. “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” – Joe Nichols

Maybe in a liquor store…for men.

10. “Gangnam Style” – PSY

Sorry, it’s over.

11. “I Wanna Find a Woman That’ll Hold My Big Toe Till I Have To Go” – Captain Beefheart

Interesting lyrics…

12. “The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?)” – Yvis

Not a song to play on repeat. Not even for a pet retail store.
